Step Well

Our tour guide Ranvir knew the overseer of this Step Well so we were allowed to go in. Usually they won't let any foreigners in. But this was definitely in the top 5 things I saw while over there:

It is hard to believe that after 1000 years the Step Well is still in such good shape.

This is where the royalty sat during the summer months to be closer to water and cooler.

They store old sculptures in these archways because there is no other place to put them. Unfortunately the weather still gets to them and they get more and more damaged.

Part of the movie "The Fall" was filmed here and the steps are a main feature ----

The water was really low when we were there because it was winter and in the middle of a drought.

Inside the Royal Area:

"Camp" and Camels

We stayed in a "camp" for a night, built just for OAT groups. It was gorgeous! Not at all what I think of camping, but definitely fun.

The King and Queen of our camp:

My camel and camel leader -- my camel apparently hated me, he got up before I was even sitting on him, he made my saddle come loose on our walk, and he didn't want to follow the other camels. Interesting....

"Look! No hands!"
